Setup Guide

Six steps. About 10 minutes. No IT skills needed.

1. Unbox & plug in

Inside the box: WhiteCat router, power adapter, Ethernet cable, this guide. Connect the Ethernet cable from your existing internet box (or fibre modem) to the router's blue WAN port. Plug in power. Wait ~60 seconds for the light to turn solid white.

2. Install the app

Search "WhiteCat Family" on the App Store or Google Play. Open it. Create an account with your email. We use Firebase for sign-in; no password needed.

3. Pair the router

The app guides you through pairing. You'll connect your phone to a temporary "WhiteCat-Setup" Wi-Fi network for ~30 seconds. The app handles the rest — it knows the router's local URL and exchanges a credential. Done.

4. Add family members

In the app, go to Members. Add each person in your household: their name, age, profile (Kids / Adults / Grandparents). Their devices auto-link the first time they connect to your Wi-Fi.

5. Set your first rule

Start small. Try: "TikTok blocked for Emma on school nights, 8 PM – 7 AM." Open Emma's profile, tap Schedules, add a window, pick TikTok from the service list, save. Done.

6. Troubleshooting + support

  • No internet after plug-in? Check the WAN cable is in the blue port and your existing modem still shows online.
  • App won't pair? Restart the router, retry. If still stuck, reset to factory defaults (paperclip in reset hole, hold 30 seconds without unplugging power).
  • Need a human? Email [email protected]. We answer personally.
